An unidentified man allegedly stole Rs41,000 from a bank cashier by using the excuse of obtaining a specific currency note to prepare a taweez for his child at a UBL Ameen branch in Sharafabad, Karachi. According to an application submitted by the branch manager to New Town Police Station, the suspect visited the bank on November 2 at around 2:52pm and initially asked for a Rs5,000 note bearing the serial number 786, claiming he needed it to prepare a taweez for his child. When the requested note was unavailable, he asked for a Rs1,000 note with the same serial number and then requested to inspect a bundle of Rs1,000 notes. After assuring the bank staff that he would not run away, the suspect was handed the bundle by the cashier. He allegedly took out Rs41,000 and returned the remaining notes. The cashier noticed the shortage, raised an alarm and called for help, but the suspect managed to escape. The bank reported a loss of Rs41,000 and requested police to register a case, identify and arrest the suspect, and recover the stolen amount.
