ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi handed over more than Rs5 million to the father of deceased student Laiba Ejaz, saying that the state takes care of its citizens like a mother. He assured the family that efforts would continue to recover the remaining amount allegedly taken from Laiba through fraud.
Mohsin Naqvi visited Laiba’s residence on Wednesday along with Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and offered condolences to the bereaved family. He also offered Fateha for the deceased and briefed the family on the progress made in the case.
The federal interior minister said that the investigation team had worked day and night and that fulfilling the promise made to the family was its responsibility. He handed over the recovered amount to Laiba’s father and assured him that efforts would continue to recover the remaining money.
Laiba’s father thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying that the support provided by the government had further strengthened his belief that the state takes care of its citizens like a mother.
Laiba’s death had initially been declared an alleged suicide. Meanwhile, progress was also made regarding a suspect named Nauman, who was reportedly in custody and was later killed in an exchange of fire with a police team.
